Gal. 5:19-21
"Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are...idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies...those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God."

Halloween night is a key time when satanists do their works of evil. Idolatry and sorcery are the direct results of contentions, jealousies, and selfish ambitions. Throughout the world, people who are unwilling to submit to God will instead turn to satanic forces to get what they want. As you pray for those involved with witchcraft in your country, don’t forget to pray for the unreached animists who spend their whole lives seeking favor from wicked spirits. Unlike those who have heard of the blessings of Jesus, they try to gain favor from satanic forces through blood sacrifices and worship of spirits that are in rebellion against the One, true God.

Pray that the unreached Animists will look to their creator rather than to the spirits.

Bhotia People of Nepal

The old villager seemed offended when the tourists trekking through his village asked him if he was Bhotia. “I am a Nepali Tibetan,” he curtly replied. Many Bhotias resent their name because of its derogatory meaning, implying “hillbilly.” The 400,000 Bhotias in northern Nepal consider themselves ethnic Tibetans. Some came to Nepal centuries ago for trade, or land, or to avoid persecution. Others have come more recently to avoid Chinese persecution.

Like the other nomads of the region, the Bhotias carry on extensive trade with neighbors. They often have both a winter and a summer house to accommodate the pasturing of their yaks, sheep and goats in the summer. Because their terrain is so difficult, the Bhotias live in widely separated valleys, and each community speaks its own Tibetan-based dialect. They are particularly noted for their carpets that the women weave in their homes. Originally they used natural wools and dyes, but with the advent of industrialization, they switched to synthetic wools and chemical dyes. Now the government has encouraged them to return to their traditional ways.

Pray for opportunities for outsiders to share Christ with the Tibetan Buddhist Bhotia people. Pray that tourism will not only improve their lives economically, but also provide contact with those who will show them the way to the only Savior. Specifically, pray that God will raise up fair-minded believers who will provide markets for Bhotia-made products.-JS
