The Israelites had momentum! What a seemingly inopportune time to incapacitate all the warriors for an entire week! Yet for God to save them, they had to be holy. Circumcision was not an inconsequential religious rite. It was the God-given sign that Yahweh had set them apart for a special purpose. It was also a reminder that they must do things God’s way, though human reasoning would tell them to continue to move ahead. Are you acting on your own reasoning, or obeying God’s commands, even when they don’t make sense?
Pray that God will give us the willingness to obey Him, even when circumstances tell us to do otherwise. Pray for His holiness to penetrate our hearts.
“The snow will be coming soon!” shouted the Anwal leader as he went about the camp. “Prepare the sheep and the goats for the migration down to the lower country where we can spend the winter.” Without looking up, members of this nomadic band began to gather their livestock and take down their tents.
Many Anwal families knit woolen garments to sell in the marketplaces during the winter so they can buy salt, cereals and molasses to take back up to the mountains when they return. Most Anwals live in Nepal, while others live in India.
Their numbers are small, and there is no witness of Christ’s presence among these Hindus so far as we know. This present generation of Anwals will never hear the gospel unless believers are willing to be faithful and diligent in prayer for God to reach them. In Kamauni, the language of the Anwal people, there are Old Testament portions and the New Testament. For oral learners, there are World Christian Videos and audio recordings. At least 1.5 billion of the world’s peoples have never been introduced to reading and writing in any form, and more than half that number prefer oral communication to pass on values and truths, according to Wycliffe Bible Translators.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Pray that God will raise up faithful workers who will take these materials to the Anwal people and disciple them to obey everything Christ has commanded.-MH
