Rev. 5:9
"And they sang a new song: 'You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because You were slain, and with Your blood You purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation'"

Missionary-author Don Richardson declares that at this point (as well as several others in Revelation) John “raids the Greek dictionary” to find synonyms for “people group.” John wanted to emphasize that no people group is to be left out-all are included in Christ’s provision of salvation. How determined Christ is to win back to Himself some from all the peoples of our earth! He loves them all. They are His by right of creation and by right of redemption.

Dear Jesus, give us a vision for the completed Body of Christ, so that our highest priority will be to plant Your Church among every people and nation on earth.

Bohra Muslims of India

Bohra Muslims wait for a hidden imam they believe will appear one day. They give sila (meaning, keeping contract) as an offering, which is being held for this special imam until his return. The teachings of Jesus, who does not need earthly treasures, contrast with their beliefs. Jesus tells His followers to store up treasures in heaven and trust God to supply material needs.

The Dawoodi Bohras are Shi’ite Muslims, and any “religious” necessity, such as a wedding, requires an “ID card.” A green card signifies complete compliance with Bohra directives, a yellow card signifies satisfactory compliance, and a red card signifies compliance to basic requirements. Through this color system, spiritual leaders monitor compliance with the dai’s (Bohra leader’s) teaching. The Bohras try to maintain constant contact with their spiritual leader, and technology has made this possible.

Traditionally, Dawoodi Bohras have been businessmen in India, but now many have entered high-tech professions around the world. A 2007 Expo at the World Trade Center in South Mumbai showcased trade and commerce achievements of the Dawoodi Bohra people. Exhibitors came from different areas of India, the Far East, Europe, and North Africa.

Pray that the Bohra people will place their trust in Jesus Christ and look forward to His return. Ask God to give them the desire for constant communication with Him, instead of an earthly leader. Pray that they will invest in heavenly riches that cannot corrode or be stolen.-AK
