2 Thessalonians 1:3
"We ought always to thank God for you, brothers, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love every one of you has for each other is increasing."

The Apostle Paul was deeply thankful for the Thessalonians, especially for their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. It certainly brings great blessing and joy after many years on the mission field for a missionary to see “his children” walk in the light they have received. It signifies that the missionary’s labor in the Lord has not been in vain. Such a testimony is also a great blessing to those who first planted the seed, for they recognize that it is God who works to produce lasting fruit.

Father, we praise You for those You have brought into Your Kingdom through the labors of Your faithful servants.

Kunigami People in Japan

On the way home from high school, Hana and her friend Fumi ran across a dead dog on one of the dusty roads on the island of Okinawa, home of the Kunigami people. Dead dogs and cats were common on the roads of this southern Japanese island. Hana stared at the dead dog. “We better call the sanitation department to dispose of it.” Fumi stared at the dead dog with a far away look. “Do dogs have souls?” Hana tilted her head in puzzlement. “How should I know? I don’t even know if people have souls.” She pulled out her cell phone and began to call sanitation.

Okinawa’s Kunigami youth don’t realize that eternity awaits them at the end of life. Although many older Kunigamis practice some combination of Buddhism and Shintoism, many Kunigami youth are growing up with no religious training at all. Materialism runs rampant among this people group.

Ask God to send faithful, loving missionaries to preach the message of salvation to Okinawa’s Kunigami youth. Pray that God would break the hold that Buddhism, Shintoism and materialism have on this people group. Ask God that new, effective methods of outreach will be developed for this people group.-WK
