After the gospel has been preached in a people group, and many have responded in faith, a new church is born. We may be tempted to heave a sigh of relief, rejoice in the new evidence of God’s power, and turn our attention elsewhere. But we must remember that some of Satan’s strongest attacks will be directed against this fledgling body of believers. Pray for the brand-new churches being formed even this month.
Pray for God’s protection for new believers, and especially for national church leaders who are special targets of the onslaught of the enemy.
The Islamic call to prayer in Bengali came out loud and clear in the Tokyo apartment. Mosques are rare in this part of the world, so television fills the void for Bengali-speakers from Bangladesh. A Bengali couple, both under 20 years old, watched this show from their apartment living room in Tokyo. They were both glad to find at least one TV network that had Bengali programs. Through Your Choice Corporation, (YCC), these Bengalis can maintain their culture and their Islamic faith.
Recently the YCC cable network began airing programs in the Bengali language in the major cities of Japan. They now have 470 subscribers in Japan, a number that this Bangladesh-based company hopes will grow.
What are Bangladeshis doing in Japan, you might ask. A growing shortage of young workers has encouraged many Japanese corporations to hire contract workers from Bangladesh. Many of these workers are teenagers and speak little or no Japanese. Bengalis from Bangladesh are solidly Muslim, wherever they live. However, people can sometimes be open to Christ when they are in an unfamiliar environment.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Ask God to create a hunger for Christ among the Bengali teenage workers living in Japan. Pray that God will raise up the right people to reach out to this emerging people group in Japan. Pray that the Lord would use dreams and visions and His Word to lead this people group to the path that leads to true salvation.-WK
