Ephesians 3:6
"...the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus."

The idea that the Gentiles are equally acceptable to God was a theme the apostles emphasized repeatedly. Is it hard for us to understand that there is no distinction in Christ Jesus? Can we believe that God is pleased with worship that doesn’t necessarily feature pipe organs (or guitars), hymnals (or choruses), and Scripture readings from the King James Version (or Living Bible)? Do other cultural forms of worship and nurture offend Him? No! It is His plan to make individuals from all the people groups of the world fellow-heirs and fellow-members of the Body and partakers of the promise.

Father, help us to overcome our blindness and prejudice so that we may appreciate the beauty of the many-faceted global body of Jesus Christ.

Danau People of Myanmar

“You don’t scare me with your knife and loud shouting! My ‘Lion Tattoo’ shows what I’m made of. Don’t even try to fight me.” Intoxicated with rice wine and angry over a minor dispute, a Danau youth staggered towards his adversary, and was quickly pushed to the ground.

There are over 100,000 Danau people living in the central areas of Shan State and the northern part of Kayah State in Myanmar. An estimated 95 percent of Danaus adhere to Thervada Buddhism, mixed with spirit worship, occult practices and black magic, which is carried on by witch doctors.

Many Danau men are addicted to smoking opium and drinking rice wine. This has created many problems as illustrated earlier. Danau people often use special tattoos that reflect their history and Animistic practices. Farming and fishing are their primary sources of livelihood. Their remote locations and the constant presence of Myanmar’s military have made it difficult for Christians to reach them. Despite these obstacles, several Christians have witnessed to the Danaus, and today there are an estimated 500 Danau believers. These believers have expressed that they did not find comfort or answers for their problems in their practice of Buddhism or black magic. Many believe that God will see them through their difficult times.
