The wonderful news is that He has made provision to reconcile us to Himself through the blood of Christ. He knew that we were weak sinners, even enemies. How great is our reconciliation! In this we rejoice! And God yearns that people everywhere be reconciled to Himself (cf. 1 Timothy 2:4). Because we are His body on earth, He has given us the message and the ministry of reconciliation (cf. 2 Corinthians 5:18, 19). Will we rejoice as we take this message to a lost and dying world?
Jesus, thank You again that You have reconciled us to God. Thrill us with the ministry of reconciliation that is ours.
For the past 30 years, African-American Christians and their families have been seriously asking, “What will it take to complete the task of world evangelization?” Many candidates initially responded to the Great Commission, but they often give little thought to what to do next. Mission boards, churches, and organizations began to ask hard questions in the 1970s. “If we are to make disciples of all nations, what does that mean? How do we know if they have heard? How will we get personnel from our churches to these unreached people? Who are the best personnel to send?”
God began a special work among African-American Christians in 1998. Dr. Joseph Rayman and his wife began to pray and mobilize African-American churches and families to reach Africa, and God has granted them success. Africa On Fire was born. (Now known as AOF Missions Inc.) This organization works in Nigeria, Togo, Ghana, and Kenya. Teams from the U.S. are taken to Africa each year to train African pastors to send out their own missionaries where Christ’s glory and loving kindness is not known. As of 2007, AOF sent out 40 Kenyan missionaries and 250 Kenyan pastors. They have trained over 1,000 pastors in Nigeria. Pray for continued success of AOF to mobilize African-American Christians for this unique opportunity. Pray for God’s continual anointing of Dr. Joseph Rayman and other AOF leaders.-CH
