In this rebuke of the Jews for their religious inconsistency, Paul makes reference to Isaiah 52:5 and Ezekiel 36:21-22. It was an old problem. The Jews, as God’s chosen people, had again and again violated the Law of God and lapsed into idolatry, immorality, and economic oppression. The nations watched, and seeing Israel’s disobedience, blasphemed instead of praising and adoring the Lord’s Name. Today, the Lord’s Name is often blasphemed among many nations because of the behavior of Christians in the West. Our attitudes and our use of wealth often inhibit or even destroy our witness in the world.
Pray for purity in the Church so that the Name of the Lord will be praised among the nations.
“When I, Angelica, was a child, my parents didn’t know about Jesus. They would fight and drink all the time. Our life was very hard, until one day someone gave us a record in our Mixtec language telling us all about God. The message reached the hearts of my parents and all of my family got saved!” Now, many years later, Angelica has taken up the work of sharing Global Recordings (GRN) cassettes wherever she goes, in big city or migrant camps throughout the fields of Culiacan, Mexico. Those who were once on the receiving end of hearing the gospel are now the ones giving that same good news to a new generation of indigenous people.
Every year for 17 years a major outreach has been held in Culiacan to share the good news of Jesus Christ with Native Americans who go there to work in the harvest fields. Thousands of them have come to faith in Christ over the years.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Praise God for what He is doing through the Culiacan Outreach. Pray for God to raise up many more like Angelica, who are willing to share in the spiritual harvest among Mexico’s indigenous peoples. Pray for thousands more to open their hearts to Jesus Christ, who alone offers His help and comfort for today, and eternal life with Him throughout the ages to come. Pray that there will be lasting fruit among these new believers.-MH
