Peter’s first sermon, after the empowering of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost, was based on Joel 2:28-32. According to Peter, this outpouring of the Spirit was the fulfillment of Joel’s prophecy-that the Holy Spirit would be poured out upon all people. He follows his reference to Joel’s passage with a provocative conclusion: “then everyone (whether Jew or Gentile) who calls on the Name of the Lord will be saved.”
Gracious God, we give You praise that Your Spirit has continued to move throughout the earth since Pentecost. Fill us afresh with power that we might call Jews and Gentiles to saving faith in Jesus.
In the summer of 2005 there were explosions in the subway tunnels of London. Not everyone was horrified by that event. In some of England’s most radical mosques people bowed in prayer, thanking Allah for what had just happened. A few of these people were Malays, and they rejoiced over the havoc Al Qaeda had caused.
There are 48,000 Malays living in England. Malaysia was a British colony until 1956. The large influx of Malays into the United Kingdom started after 1900, but a few members of this people group may have emigrated to Britain as early as the 1700s. The Malays are almost entirely Muslim, and today there are large communities of them in most major British cities. In the Malay communities there are many mosques but no churches. There are no known Malay believers in Britain.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Ask God to open the hearts of Britain’s Malays to the message of salvation. Pray that this people group will come to see Jesus Christ as the Son of God and not just a prophet. May the JESUS Film and gospel radio broadcasts bear eternal fruit among this people group. Ask God to use even dreams and visions to reveal himself to the Malays of the United Kingdom.-WK
