What courage, and what insight! Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego teach us at least three lessons as we confront the challenge of principalities and powers raised up against the knowledge of God. First, God is able to deliver His servants from danger, and give us great boldness and confidence. Nothing is too hard for Him! Second, He is not obligated to rescue His servants from physical harm; His power is directed by His wisdom. Third, a balanced view of God’s ability and His providence keeps us from timidity on the one hand or presumption on the other.
Wonderful Lord, teach us to walk in truth and wisdom as we face challenges to Your authority.
For more than a century, Action Partners-Pioneers (formerly called Sudan United Mission) has worked in the Nuba Mountain region in Sudan. Action Partners-Pioneers is an interdenominational church planting movement based in the UK and working internationally.
There is a team working currently in northern Sudan, as well as a second team working with another ministry called ACROSS in the south. They are doing a broad range of work: education, health care, leadership development, evangelism, and other church-related ministries. With such a long history of violence in this region, the need is greater now than ever before.
Since its inception, Action Partners-Pioneers has been driven by such values as passion for God, passion for the unreached people groups, church planting, local church emphasis, team ministry, grace, and servant leadership. Pray that the hardships and poverty will turn the peoples of Sudan to the Lord. Pray for the Church in the south to keep its eyes on the Lord and to not give in to bitterness and revenge as they face their oppressors. Pray that tribalism and hatred will be broken. Pray that the violence will end. Pray for God to raise up more workers to join forces with Action Partners-Pioneers. Pray that their work will bear lasting fruit that will affect all of Sudan and glorify the Name of Christ.-JR
