Our hearts respond to this, “Only God can pay it! And He did !” We who know God in Jesus Christ rejoice that Jesus paid the ransom for our lives. Yet we must always remember that millions of other men and women have yet to enjoy such redemption or even the knowledge of how God has paid the price for their sin. The ransom for a single life is precious beyond measure. Jesus has made a way to God for all who believe and receive!
Pray that more laborers will go, saying, “Hear this! Listen, all you peoples!”
If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. An old adage but well used by the Jahm tribe of eastern Yemen as they punched holes in the major oil pipelines. That didn’t get government’s attention, so they blew up the pipelines. One journalist reported, “that having tried for years to win basic concessions from the government, without success, hostage taking was a last, desperate tactic.” And so they took hostages. Their need was for power plants and a water distribution system. Little was done, and the struggle between Bedouin groups like the Jahms and the Yemeni government goes on as it has for years.
These are a desperately needy people. No rain for seven years in the Jahm homeland has made both water and food sources scarce. Nearly half of all Jahm children suffer from malnutrition, and less than half of Yemen’s population has access to any health services, according to “Operation World.”
The Jahms are a people with unmet spiritual as well as physical needs. The JESUS Film is now available in several key languages, but opportunities to show the film or distribute the video in Yemen are limited. Even if the Jahms viewed the JESUS Film, it would be in Arabic, not their heart language.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Pray for God’s Word to reach these people, and to give their land rest from the constant war that rages within and without.-MH
