Lev. 26:8
"Five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand."

When God promises to give His people victory over their enemies, He promises power according to the law of concerted activity. That is, when God’s people work together to do His purposes, their power is multiplied many times. How exciting it is when God uses us together to put vast enemies to flight! The global task we share-bringing the news of God’s salvation to all the families of the earth-is so great that to ensure victory the entire Church of Jesus Christ must be mobilized. Each of us has a part to play.

Dear Father, may hundreds and thousands of Your followers join together in an all-out assault to penetrate the remaining unreached people groups with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Tharu People of Nepal

A couple more cracks of guns firing, and the brutal job was finished. The Maoist guerillas had just massacred the family of the rich Nepalese landlord, leaving bloody bodies all over the mansion. With a wave of his hand, the squad leader gestured to a group of Tharu girls who had been hiding behind a couch. “You are free,” he said. The family had enslaved the girls. They ran off into the night, hoping to find their way back to their families.

Poor Tharu families often sell their daughters to work as indentured servants for rich landlords in conditions that border on slavery. Usually the landlords are not Tharus. Many Tharu families have lost their lands to money-lenders years ago. Poverty has tempted many members of this people group to abandon Hinduism and adopt the secular communism being brought to them by the Maoist movement. Many Tharus have been recruited to fight for the “Nepalese People’s Liberation Front.” The Tharu homeland has become an active war zone between Nepal’s government and the Maoists.

Ask God to restore peace to the Tharu homeland. Pray that God would halt the growing hold that communism has on the Tharus. May this people group realize that only Jesus Christ can meet their material and spiritual needs.-WK
