Gen. 22:14
"So Abraham called that place, 'The Lord will provide.'"

God repeated His covenant with Abraham several times, such as on this occasion after the great test of Abraham’s faith on Mount Moriah. Abraham demonstrated his confidence in God by being willing to offer his beloved son, Isaac, as a sacrifice. When God stopped his hand and substituted a ram for the son, Abraham named the place “Jehovah Jireh,” which means “the Lord will provide.” Abraham’s use of the future tense in the name was prophetic. Two thousand years later, God provided a greater substitute sacrifice-His own beloved Son. Because of that substitution, all the families of the earth can receive forgiveness of sins.

Dear Lord, forgive us for being so tardy in telling them about Your Son, who died for the sins of the world.

Hindu Patels

Throughout the world they are envied for their business acumen, powerful family loyalties, achievement orientation, and their ability to overcome obstacles. These are the Patels.

The word ‘Patel’ is a title that is used for various groups. Emigration from the Indian subcontinent began in the late 19th century, first to east Africa and then, over the years, to the rest of the world. About 1.26 million settled in the U.K. Some transferred their wealth, retaining their status-conscious circles. Others came as political refugees and migrants who turned to small corner shop businesses to earn a living. In America it is estimated that over 60 percent of limited service motels are owned by Indians. Of that percentage, one third are Patels.

Not all Patel families are socially equal. The largest circles are the wealthiest. These are relatively more educated and sophisticated.

Though they would be hard to reach in India, the Patels are very reachable in the West, but few if any are reaching out to them.

Pray for many Patels to find Jesus, in whom there are no status circles, but all are one in God’s family. Pray that God will raise up His ambassadors to Patels in Africa, the U.K., India, and the U.S.-MH
