2 Tim. 3:15
"...and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus."

Have you considered what it might be like for the thousands of peoples in today’s world who do not have the Bible in their own languages? Think of the help and comfort you receive daily from God’s Word-to say nothing of the most basic knowledge of new life in Jesus Christ. Pray today for those who are struggling to make God’s Word clear and understandable in people groups where the knowledge of Christ has not broken through.

Pray that God will provide His Word for those who have never heard by using you in praying, giving, sending, or going!

North Koreans of Pyongyang (Pyung-yahng)

Contrary to its name which means “peaceful ocean,” the city of Pyongyang in North Korea has experienced anything but peace. It has been the target for control by the Japanese, and China’s Wang Dynasty since 2333 B.C. Once considered Asia’s capital of Christianity because of its many churches at the time, this Marxist nation now remains one of the most closed countries to Christianity.

Things changed drastically for the people of Pyongyang when Soviet dictator Josef Stalin, put troops in northern Korea before the Japanese surrendered in 1945. What resulted was a communist regime led by Kim Il Sung. Thousands of Christians were martyred, and the people were required to revere Kim as a god.

While the North Korean Constitution says it gives political power to the people, the real political power belongs to the Communist Party. Their religious beliefs include a mixture of Buddhism, shamanism, and Confucian thought. But a philosophy developed by Kim Il Sung, known as “juc,” is what now dominates the devotional life of North Koreans. Today, Kim’s son, Kim Jung Il, is the dictator, and the people of Pyongyang are starving physically and spiritually.
