Is the prize, the upward calling, the focus of our lives? If so, then let us pursue the goal. What is this goal which God has established and which Paul describes? It is an increasingly intimate knowledge of Himself in which we experience “the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in His sufferings” (v. 10). Such an experiential knowledge of God will inevitably lead us into sacrificial service for the peoples of the earth-the men and women for whom Jesus died.
Lord, lead us into a sweeter knowledge of Jesus and His love.
The smiling shy girl extended her hand to receive the CD that the Global Recordings worker handed her. Then she turned excitedly to her friends and whispered, “Let’s listen to it now!”
Global Recordings Network (GRN) works under Sounds of Language Foundations in Thailand and works in cooperation with the Thailand Bible Society (TBS) to send and distribute CDs to reach the Urak Lawoi’ (UL) Sea Gypsies off Lanta Yai Island.
Arjan Pornsuang, a Thai pastor, and a Thai team from Trung Church, have faithfully traveled by boat every Thursday to visit believers in Lanta Yai for two and a half years. This team has dedicated their lives to the UL people, and are even learning to speak their language. One of the most effective ways to reach these people with the gospel is with CDs that tell gospel stories. Several villages conduct regular Bible studies. However, one village in Tok Ba Liew cannot have a Bible study because the head of the village has forbidden it because the Christians’ God makes UL’s god “less important.” Believers go to another village where they can study, sing and pray. There are four groups gathering to worship on the island. Pray that villagers and especially village leaders, will realize that the “Christians’ God” is not a threat to them but is a revelation of His love and salvation for them.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
