Chapter 14 and the first few verses of chapter 15 deal with issues of conscience in the life of the church. Those strong in faith are instructed not to do anything that would disturb the faith of those not so strong. Paul warns them against putting stumbling blocks in the way of others. Believers are to accept one another as Christ has accepted us: unconditionally. Those who are missions-minded often fall into temptation to be critical of those who don’t yet have a concern for all nations. Missions-fanatics should be careful to win their brethren to the cause through love and acceptance.
Pray that the Holy Spirit will teach us to accept other believers who do not share our concerns. Pray against any form of self-righteousness.
“Nabi, is it you?” The physician’s eyes filled with tears as he embraced his old friend. “Yes it is, Mansoor. It has been too many years since I’ve seen you.” The shirt pocket full of pens revealed Nabi’s engineering background. “Here we are at the Sindhi Association of North America (SANA) convention again. Have you heard what matters the speakers will be addressing?”
Nabi’s face dropped. He replied, “Yes, Mansoor. There is much sad news coming from the Sindh Province these days. Do you know that more that 400 youths have committed suicide this year due to lack of hope and desperate conditions? The Pakistani government still ignores the devastation of the cyclone damage along our shores, and fishermen are starving. The farmers have no money to purchase new seeds. We come together each year to this conference, but who knows if passing resolutions and sending money will help.”

Pray that they will open their minds and hearts to the One who brings hope to us all and trust Jesus Christ alone as their Savior. May these leaders find Christ, then share boldly with their countrymen the wondrous truth of the gospel. May Christians in their lives be led by the Holy Spirit to share their faith in a relevant and sensitive manner.-PE
