One of the most exciting things happening in the world today is the partnership between the “older” churches and the “younger” churches in mission outreach. “Older” churches have known the gospel for many centuries, and have been the traditional missionary-sending churches for the past several hundred years. “Younger” churches have been planted by the “older” churches in the past 200 years or so. Now these so-called “younger” churches are forming mission agencies of their own, and we are hearing more and more about the fruit of their efforts.
Pray today for increased cooperation and mutual learning between the older churches and mission agencies and their younger counterparts.
“How odd.” The American woman whispered to her husband. “Every person working in this hotel looks as though they were from the same family.” Hearing a chuckle behind her she turned to face a staff member who said, “We are. There are two extended families with 19 members. We have pooled our resources to purchase the hotel, and we all work here.”
Industrious Patels are traditionally merchants from India’s western state of Gujarat. They own a large percentage of U.S. motels and many other businesses from doughnut houses to fast-food restaurants to software companies.
The vast majority of the Patels are Hindu, and they are extremely busy focusing on their businesses. But God has found a way in one American city to reach them. Through gentle witness, Christians form friendships, help with language issues, and make themselves available to be used of God to love and help in the daily lives of these bright and hard-working immigrants.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Pray that more believers will be called of God to minister to the unnoticed, yet highly visible Patels. Pray that Christians will be a conduit for the love and salvation of Christ when they come in contact with Patels. Pray for open doors of witness for those already working amongst them.-PE
