Acts 4:10-11
"It is by the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but God raised from the dead...that [the man who was lame] stands before you completely healed.... Salvation is found in no one else."

In obedience Peter and John proclaimed the Lord’s salvation in Jerusalem. They were so bold that they were called before the religious council to defend their actions. What was their defense? Simply the Name of the risen Lord Jesus Christ. Because Jesus was raised from the dead, Peter insisted, “There is salvation in no one else! There is no other Name by which we must be saved.” Without salvation in the Name of the risen Jesus, the unreached peoples of the world have no hope for eternity.

Dear Lord, help us to understand and truly believe what You revealed to Peter. Remind us of the reality of heaven and hell, and of the saving power of the gospel.

Animistic Yanomamo People of Brazil and Venezuela

Yanomamo people actually want to be possessed by spirits-a terrifying prospect! You have read the testimony of Bee in days one, two and three. To the Yanomamo people, the spirit world is very real. Those who are being groomed to be shamans are taught to “discern” which spirits to invite to live “inside their chests.” Some spirits are considered to be ones to play with like a playmate. Others are considered dangerous. Then there are the ones that they want. Those are the ones that will give them power in the spirit world.

As you remember, Bee eventually chose to embrace God’s Holy Spirit. But this is very difficult for the Yanomamo people, especially for their shamans. The book, “Spirit of the Rainforest,” by Mark Richie, contains the testimony of a powerful shaman, and the evil he is able to do because of his relationship with the spirits. It is not a book for the faint of heart! For better or for worse, outsiders are making contact with the Yanomamos. Some Yanomamos now have access to the gospel, though few are entering God’s Kingdom.
