John 20:21
"Again Jesus said, 'Peace be with you! As the Father has sent Me, I am sending you.'"

After His resurrection, Jesus appeared to His disciples in the upper room and greeted them with this commission. Jesus was sent into the world to demonstrate God’s love for all peoples. While on earth Jesus also showed others how to impart His life to the world. As the Father sent Him, so He sends us, often to difficult places. But with the promise of His peace and His presence we have nothing to fear.

Father, thank You for counting us worthy to bear the gospel of life to all peoples. May we be faithful to this great cause for rejoicing!

Sunni Muslim Rifi Berbers in France

The Arabic word Rif means, “the edge of the cultivated area,” which aptly describes the Rifi territory. They dwelled on the harsh slopes of the Rif Mountains in Morocco and Algeria. To find jobs and a better life, many migrated to France. Over time so many migrated that France restricted all immigration.

The Rifis are almost all Muslims, although their religious practices are based more on traditions and on the decisions of the community rather than on the Koran. Many Rifis are searching for answers beyond Islamic thought, and in France there is freedom to do so. In France it is the Rif Berbers who most readily adapt to French ways. Some are very secular like the French, while others are violently hostile to the French.

Life for the Rifi family in France is hard. As Muslims in a secular-humanist land, they are looked upon with suspicion. Because of recent violent unrest and terrorist attacks among France’s Muslim minorities, the French want to prevent Muslims from working in airports, where security is an issue.

Pray for God to stir up the Body of Christ to regularly intercede on behalf of the Rif Berbers, that through the JESUS Film, Christian radio, and other Christian sources, they might find life’s answer in Christ.-MH
