A small company of Jews had returned to Judah from exile in Babylon. Initial efforts to rebuild the temple were frustrated by opposition from surrounding peoples. The people of God became too discouraged to do anything but just rebuild their homes. Haggai’s message was, “God will honor us only if we put His concerns first!” What about your church? Is it putting God’s kingdom first? What about its vision for the world? Does God want to use us the way He used Haggai to rebuild a mission vision long neglected?
Lord, please give us the courage, vision, and wisdom to be like Haggai, that we may call the Church to rebuild that vision which we have neglected for too long.
It is exciting to hear good news! The work of People International offers good news to those who want to see the Kingdom of God extended to Muslims! People International has published a Bible translated into the language and culture of 31,000,000 Russian-speaking Muslims. People are reading it and trusting in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. People International is also producing Christian television programs in Farsi, Arabic, and Turkish, which are reaching into millions of homes. One of their listeners responded, “We were overjoyed and wept. This is an answer to our prayers.”
God is answering many prayers through the actions of People International. Called Gairdner Trust Ministries from 1979 to 1987, this interdenominational Christian organization has sent short-term and long-term missionaries to live and work among Muslim people in more than 20 people groups. Because of prayer, changes have taken place that opened doors for the gospel. Now more “tentmaker” missionaries are moving into the homelands of targeted peoples. People International trains and equips these missionaries, enabling them to perform effective ministry. Let’s join their work through diligent prayer!Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Thank God for building His Church among the Muslim peoples in Central Asia and Russia. Praise God for the wisdom to prepare a culturally relevant Bible that does not alter scriptural truth. Pray for tentmaking missionaries to establish loving relationships with unbelieving neighbors. Ask the Holy Spirit to prepare hearts to accept the gospel message.-AK
