Man is nothing! Nothing but a breath that lasts for a moment or a passing shadow. Furthermore, other parts of Scripture, especially the first chapter of Romans, tell of man’s evil desires and sinful nature. Doesn’t it cause God pain to constantly woo the unreached peoples, who are in rebellion against Him? Yes, indeed! But because of His love, His righteousness, and His holy character, God pursues unbelievers so that they may have abundant life just as we, His children do. In order to be righteous ambassadors of Christ, shouldn’t we be doing all we can to draw the unreached to Christ?
Lord, we renew our commitment to pray for the unreached peoples this coming year.
For centuries the nomad’s life has been lived in the open spaces as he sought to provide food for his animals. At one time nomadic shepherds in the Darfur region of western Sudan attacked and stole cattle from farmers. Today, both nomads and farmers alike are the prey of warring Arabs who swoop down on villages to kill, steal and destroy. Now their freedom to move about in Darfur is limited because of these gun-toting Arabs riding on camels or horses.
Victims of these raiders include both Black Africans and Arabs. For protection, several nomadic Arab families live in a common area and limit the size of the area to which they lead their flocks so they aren’t attacked and killed.
If an Arab nomad’s brother is killed, he is expected to provide for the brother’s wives. According to a September, 2005 article in “BBC News,” an Arab man with two wives inherited 10 more wives from his six brothers, each of whom had been killed as they traveled in rebel-held territory.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Pray that in this coming year, God will minister to the physical and spiritual needs of these Muslims. Pray for Satan’s works to be destroyed in Darfur in 2007.-MC
