"Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth"

We need this exhortation to be still. We need assurance by His Word, in the stillness, that “I am God; I will be exalted.” What encouragement is in this psalm-refuge, help, strength, His presence with us, and finally, peace and His exaltation among the nations! How easy it is for believers to remember the first part, and forget the second part. His matchless greatness is demonstrated by the fact that He will be exalted among the nations. Let us be still and put our trust in Him for the purpose of seeing His great and awesome Name glorified among the nations!

Holy Spirit, help us to yearn for the day when You will be exalted by every tribe, tongue and nation.

Jewish People in Zimbabwe

What image flashes on your mind’s screen when you read, hear, or think of the word “Jew”? Probably it is not of an active, small group of black-skinned Jewish persons who moved to south-central Africa during the Diaspora.

Thirty years ago during Zimbabwe’s fight for independence, there were about 7,000 Jewish people there. Most of the White Europeans and many of the Jews left the country during this time. Today they are only about 900 Jewish people left in Zimbabwe, most of whom live in the capital city of Harare. They are threatened by the possibilities of malnutrition, food shortages and unemployment, which would further decimate the group. Though they are very poor, this small Zimbabwe Jewish community carries on a viable Jewish life with active synagogues, Jewish day schools and benevolent organizations. Some of the leaders of this insignificantly-sized Jewish community have been meeting with Israeli leaders to determine whether or not they can have help to move to their common Jewish homeland.

Pray that God will protect these Jews, whether they live in Zimbabwe or move to Israel, from anti-Semitic efforts. Pray that God will raise up vibrant African Christians to lead them to their true Messiah. Pray for a spiritual new birth among these Jewish people.-MC
