Because He created us, we “belong” to the Lord. He also claims us for His own by the right of redemption (Heb. 2:9). We who acknowledge Christ as Savior and Lord know we are not our own. We are “bought with a price” (I Cor. 6:20). How were you informed of this? Who told you of His claim upon you? Today there are well over two billion individuals who have no one to tell them.
Dear Lord, burden our hearts for thousands of peoples still without a witness. Prepare the hearts of individuals in those people groups to hear and respond to Your Word. Send out laborers into this harvest.
“Oh, Kitale,” Pulano clicked, “Call the others! There is a praying mantis. We need to discern what divine message he is bringing us from the holy stars and Southern Cross.” The staccato clicks marked by exclamation points punctuate the interesting language of the !Kung Bushmen. Like many of the peoples in southern Africa, their language involves clicks made by popping the tongue from the roof of the mouth. These 50,000 people live mainly in South Africa and Botswana.
Only about one-third of the !Kung continue their traditional nomadic lifestyle due to a lack of game and other resources. Even water must be sucked from beneath the sand with long reeds. Others work on Black-owned farms for food and no wages.
They call themselves “the Harmless People” as opposed to non-Bushmen whom they refer to as “animals without hooves.” !Kung were once hunted as sport by other peoples.
Brilliant in understanding of God’s creation, these people know as many as 300 plants, and are known for their tracking ability. Though they are familiar with God’s creation, only about 10 percent of them are at all familiar with the ways of the Creator and His Son, though their beliefs are usually tainted by superstition. Pray for the efforts of the Dutch Reformed Church, the Lutherans, and Africa Evangelical Fellowship. Pray for that the !Kung Bushmen will soon glorify the Creator, and His Son.-PELearn more at joshuaproject.net
