Jud. 7:3
"Send home any of your men who are timid and frightened..."

When we commit our lives to the Lord and to His cause, making ourselves available to Him for the sake of the unreached peoples, we immediately become involved in spiritual warfare. Satan does not easily release those whom he has held in spiritual bondage. But Jesus said, “The gates of hell cannot hold against God’s onslaught.” Yet it takes courage, faith, and patient endurance to fight this kind of battle. The evil one launches numerous, desperate counterattacks. Lest we become a hindrance rather than a help to our Leader, we must abandon timidity and lay hold of a spirit of power, of love, and of self-discipline.

Oh Lord, give us strong hearts, patience, and faith to engage in spiritual warfare on behalf of the unreached peoples.

Sunni Muslim Karakalpak people of Uzbekistan

God’s heart is breaking for the Karakalpak people of Uzbekistan! They have been struck by one tragedy after another! Outward appearances are deceiving. They are experts in weaving, leather, wood, and bone craft. Below the surface, however, a tragedy is unfolding. Only a few of their girls even go to school, and of these, many withdraw early to marry. Women and teenagers do most of the farming while men spend most of their time playing chess or socializing in teahouses. Infants have a 10 percent mortality rate. Their water supply is contaminated with pesticides, sewage, and fertilizers leading to numerous health problems.

As bad is this is, there is a tragedy which is even worse. Very few have even heard the gospel of Jesus Christ. Of those who have heard, only a few have responded. And of these, only a very few are members of a local church body. Most are Sunni Muslims, though the mystical Sufi sect of Islam is also popular. This sect practices self-hypnosis induced by frenzied dancing and chanting.

Pray that the Lord will send Christian medical missionaries and water purification experts to bring them both physical and spiritual water. Pray that God will raise up qualified linguists to translate the Bible into the Karakalpak language.-CH
