God provided cities of refuge for the Israelite who killed someone accidentally. The New Testament compares these cities to the Lord Jesus, “to Whom we may flee for refuge.” There we can find forgiveness and healing for our sin. But what about those who have never heard, who seek night and day to find forgiveness of sin and peace of heart? We must hurry and tell them the good news about their wonderful refuge from sin and guilt.
Dear Lord, help us to see lost men as You do. Help us to quickly share the news of forgiveness among the nations of the earth.
“Behold, now is the day of salvation” (2 Cor.6:2), and now is the window of opportunity for Turkey. Turkey, the birthplace of the Apostle Paul, is now 99 percent Muslim. Operation World calls Turkey the “largest unreached nation” in the world. There are fewer than 7,000 evangelical Christians out of 70 million people. However, Christians do have more opportunity to evangelize in Turkey than in many predominantly Muslim nations, because the Turks have a great respect for God’s Word.
Research clearly links church growth in Turkey to the availability of the Scriptures. The Turkish Evangelical Church grew by 25 percent in both 2002 and 2003, and even more recently. This growth has largely been due to the efforts of Turkish World Outreach (TWO), The Translation Trust, and some other ministries which completed a modern translation of the New Testament in 1987. This translation was essential to the grounding of new believers. Then In 2001 they translated the rest of the Bible into modern Turkish. Believers distributed 65,000 copies to Turks. The newest effort of The Translation Trust is to publish a non-sectarian Turkish Study Bible.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
