God repeated His covenant with Abraham several times, such as on this occasion after the great test of Abraham’s faith on Mount Moriah. Abraham demonstrated his confidence in God by being willing to offer his beloved son, Isaac, as a sacrifice. When God stopped his hand and substituted a ram for the son, Abraham named the place “Jehovah Jireh,” which means “the Lord will provide.” Abraham’s use of the future tense in the name was prophetic. Two thousand years later, God provided a greater substitute sacrifice-His own beloved Son. Because of that substitution, all the families of the earth can receive forgiveness of sins.
Dear Lord, forgive us for being so tardy in telling them about Your Son, who died for the sins of the world.
It was October of 2005. There was a stunned silence among the fellowship as the pastor reported the earthquake in Kashmir. “We will need to pray for these Kashmiris,” said the pastor. “They are suffering very much, and they don’t know the mercy of the Lord.”
The believers, almost all of whom come from a Muslim background, wept and prayed. Finally, some of them approached the pastor. “We feel that the Lord wants some of us to go to Kashmir to help in their hour of distress.”
Before long, a team of them boarded a train to go to help the Kashmiris who were suffering from that earthquake. Arriving, one of them saw a man’s arm sticking out of the debris. He shouted to him, “Call on the Name of Isa, the Savior! We will do all we can to get you out.” Miraculously, the man was rescued, and he knew that it was by the power of Jesus.
Another group of Muslim-background believers prayed for someone who had a gaping wound on his arm. Soon, the wound healed before their eyes! Word got out that it was by the Name of Isa (Jesus) that people were healed and saved. Six hundred Muslim Kashmiris put their faith in Him that month!Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Thank the Lord that He can bring salvation out of disaster. Pray that the new Kashmiri believers will remain strong in their faith, and exhibit the love and power of the Holy Spirit that will bring other Muslims to Isa.-KC
