Abraham did not instantly understand what it meant for him to be a blessing and a light to the nations. In this chapter, we see him compromising the truth about Sarah, hiding the fact that she was his wife. Abraham’s half-truth very nearly brought judgment instead of blessing on Abimelech and his people! Think of the fellowship they could have had, if Abraham would have realized how sensitive Abimelech was to God (20:6)!
Master, we confess that we are often more concerned about the prosperity of our nation, our church, and our family than about sharing the Good News with the nations. Use us, as You have blessed us, to be a blessing!
“We see thousands of villages without a Christian missionary or church,” says Pastor John Mathai who is the director of the new Orissa Bible Training Center in Bhubaneshwar, capital of the northeastern state of Orissa. India Gospel Outreach (IGO) dedicated this center in July 2005. It is strategically located near 15 coastal districts that are unreached with the gospel. The focus of the school is city evangelism and reaching those districts. IGO President Valson Abraham believes that “as the city goes, so goes the state.”
IGO is also touching the northwestern state of Punjab in India. On March 5, 2006, IGO dedicated Punjab Bible College (PBC). The new facility is the culmination of 11 years of prayer. During that time the college has trained over 800 evangelists and church planters to meet the spiritual hunger of the area. By 2003 graduates had started 1,000 new fellowships in every pin (zip) code of the Punjab. Graduates have extended their ministries in neighboring Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and Nepal. The Lord has delivered many men, women, and children from demonic bondage.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Pray for the Holy Spirit’s anointing in the ministries of new graduates of PBC and the Orissa Bible Training Center. Pray that the Lord will protect these new works from Satan’s interference.-JS
