After the flood, God established a covenant with Noah-an outline of God’s promises and intentions for dealing with him and with the whole human race. This particular covenant included God’s promise to never again destroy the peoples of the earth through a flood. Throughout the Old Testament, God established a number of covenants with His people, calling them to understand and cooperate with His plan and purpose for mankind. For example, in the Abrahamic covenant (Genesis 12:1-3), God stated His purpose to bless all the families of the earth through the seed of Abraham.
We thank You, Father, for Your faithfulness to us. We thank You that we can completely trust Your promises and that we can share in Your work in the world.
The 100,000 Ladakhi people live in more than 250 villages in the mountainous State of Jammu and Kashmir. In spite of difficult circumstances, their culture and environment attracts tourists with some differing goals. Back-packers come for an unspoiled, peaceful, cheap place to hike. Some come to indulge in drugs. Other visitors come to the area, to see firsthand Ladakhi activities such as archery contests, festivals, and rituals. In spite of religious conflicts and discrimination against the three lowest castes, Ladakh is often spoken of as a peaceful society.
Ladakhis share the beliefs of their Tibetan Buddhist neighbors who mix Buddhism with the shamanistic Bon religion, with its ferocious demons. They long for warm weather, and picture hell as a terribly cold place. Moravian missionaries began working there in 1856. Today Moravians and other Christians still work there and do not face active opposition. We do not know how many Ladakhi people have embraced Christ, but they are so few that we can safely say they are still an unreached people group.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Pray for an explosion of deep Christian faith that will sweep many Ladakhi people into God’s family. Pray for God to empower His children in this region with the fruit and love of the Holy Spirit.-MC
