This great statement affirms that Jesus Christ shapes the boundaries of human history. He is the beginning, the Creator of all things, the Maker of everything that exists. And He is the end, the focal point to which all history is moving. Since Christ is the beginning and end of human history, what a tragedy that 40 percent of the world’s population has little chance of knowing Him! They are cut off from any effective means of learning about Jesus by barriers of religion, culture, language, and race.
Lord Jesus, we praise and thank You for redeeming us. Enflame our hearts to give to others the knowledge we have received.
Phuomi launched the scapegoat raft into the Mekong River. This was a Buddhist ceremony held each year by the Lao people group to symbolize the forgiveness of sins. But Phuomi still felt guilty after the ceremony was over. He lived a clean life as he struggled to earn the merit needed to reach Nirvana, the Buddhist version of heaven.
Phuomi wondered if there was another solution to his guilt problem. He’d visited the village fortune-teller, but he could offer no help. The only other religion he had heard about was Christianity. All he knew about Christianity was that the Laotian communist government considered Christians to be the “enemies of the state.” What did they believe that made them such a threat to the government, he wondered.Learn more at joshuaproject.net
Only your prayers will open the door for people like Phuomi to hear the gospel. Pray for an end to laws banning the preaching of the gospel in Laos. May God break the hold Buddhism and communism have on the Lao people group. Pray that Lao gospel radio broadcasts will continue to bear fruit. May God also prompt the underground church in Laos to reach out to the Lao people.-WK
