1 Tim. 1:1
"Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the command of God our Savior and of Christ Jesus, our hope."

We should remember that Paul was a frontier missionary. His special commission from God was to establish communities of evangelizing Christians among cultural groups without any church. This was his mission as an apostle of Jesus Christ. Paul considered the basis of his ministry to be God’s concern for all nations, beginning with the Abrahamic Covenant and continuing on through Christ’s Great Commission and his own personal commission.

Lord, teach us to use our gifts to further Your purposes for all nations.

Maranao People of the Philippines

Keelao pulled the net from Lake Lanao and dumped the catch of fish on the deck of his small fishing boat. Smiling, he exclaimed, “They don’t call us ‘People of the Lake’ for nothing!”

The Maranaos make up one of the largest group of Muslim Filipino people, numbering nearly one million. They are culturally isolated from their Christian Filipino neighbors, and view them with great distrust and animosity. It will take much love and prayer to overcome many years of bloody warfare and hatred between the two groups. They see themselves as Muslim rather than Filipino.

While there are numerous evangelistic tools available such as the JESUS Film, the New Testament, portions of the Old Testament, Scriptures on tape, and gospel broadcasts, there are still only 30-50 known believers. They face persecution from the other Maranao people.

Pray fervently for the safety and blessing of the handful of Christian Maranaos. Pray also that the powers of this spiritual principality will be broken, the people will be released and the gospel will go forth in the Holy Spirit. Pray that overseas Maranaos will find Christ through the faithful love and witness of Christians, and that the few Christian workers among the Maranao people will be protected from violence and be fruitful in their labor.-PE
