The verse goes on to say that Mary was “troubled” by this angelic greeting. It must have been hard for her, a Jewish girl of about 14, to think that the God who created the Universe would “favor” her. Jewish men often thanked God that they weren’t created as dogs or women. Ironically, the God they prayed to has a very different view of women.
As we pray for fruit to come from the Arab women’s conference, pray that these sisters will recognize the favor they have with God and their importance in building the Kingdom among all nations.
